In this session you will work with native foliage and a variety of mark-making and printmaking processes to create a concertina nature book, which explores the symbolism and meaning associated with native plants. Artist Ruth Osborne will guide you through a variety of processes using a range of materials including inks, water-colours and charcoal, and working on a variety of papers and fabrics. The artworks can be collaged together to create a beautiful nature book.

Gel Plate Printing and Collage Workshop, 29th April, 10:30am - 3:00pm, Marketplace Theatre and Arts Centre, Armagh. Book Here
Gel plate printing is a unique, fun and creative way to create artworks. During the course of this workshop, you will explore a variety of ways to use the Gel plate to create your own designs. Using inks and paint along with a range of Italian printing papers, fabrics [including Irish linen], found objects and foliage, you will create a series of hand-printed decorative designs that explore texture, colour and shape. These papers will then be used to create unique collage artworks. A frame will be supplied so that you can take home your own collage artwork to hang at home.
History and Practice of Nature Printing, 4 week course starting 4th May, 10:30-12:30, Stranmillis College, Belfast: Book Here
The course combines Art History with Art Practice, offering a unique insight into the historical use of nature printing from the middle-ages through to the present day by artists, botanists and photographers. The course comprises of 2 sessions on the history of nature printing and 2 hands-on sessions offering insight into printing with plants using hand-printing, printing press and Gel Plates.
