The Spring Woodland Floor Original Artwork on Irish Linen
Spring Woodland Floor marks the transition of the Woodland floor as the remnants of Autumn and Winter’s skeletal leaves and damp moss give way to glimpses of fresh, new growth. Vetch, Fern, Celandine can be seen in this piece- early signs of the warmth that Spring brings to the earth- paving the way into a new season. Indeed, Celandine has the symbolical meaning of ‘the return of the sun’s warmth in Spring’ and was thought, by the Victorians, to be a symbol of good things to come. This piece can be interpreted as representing a pathway through the Seasons- as the landscape transitions from one distinct season to the next.
